| PD-1000 FAQ 2 - Updating the
System BIOS |

How do I update the system BIOS? |
| A: |
- Ocassionally, we make updates to our System BIOS for improvement. If at some time you
need to update the PD-1000 BIOS follow the steps below. Note: You should use some caution
when running this utility. Do not shut off the computer before the application is finished
updating.

- After the system boots but before Windows loads, press the F8 key to enter the Windows
Startup Menu
- Select "Command Prompt Only" then press Enter to get to a "C:\>"
- At the prompt type: cd Windows\Palmax
- This will take you to the directory where the awdflash.exe file is located. Type:
awdflash
- After in the Award Flash BIOS utility (as shown above)starts, enter the new BIOS
filename: R109eng.bin (for English Version). Press Enter.
- When prompted to "Do you want to save old BIOS? (Y/N)" comes out from
"Error Message" press "N" for no or "Y" to save. If you
decide to save your old BIOS, give it a new name such as: r109eng.old
- Next it will prompt you if you want update BIOS, press "Y"
- There will be a question, "Are you sure to program?", and key "Y" as
yes to update new BIOS. Press F10 to exit.
- Restart your computer by Ctrl+Alt+Delete after the completion of "FLASH MEMORY
WRITER".
