- You can use either a infared transfer, a network connection with a LAN card or a direct
serial or parallel port connection. For a more detailed help page on Direct Cable
Connection, please go to this page.
For direct parallel connection, make sure that
your Parallel Port is set as ECP mode.
To change your Parallel Port configuration:
- 1. Press DEL when system boots to go into the CMOS Setup
- 2. Choose the Integrated Peripherals Setup
- 3. Change the parallel port to ECP
- 4. Exit, Save and Reboot
After setting up the port in the BIOS and getting the correct cable, go into the Direct
Cable Connection option in Windows. The directions are easy to follow. If you have trouble
consult Windows Help.
It is normally located in: programs/accessories/communications
(If it is not listed on your menu, then you may need to install it from the Win98 CD. Go
into the Control Panel and run "Add/Remove Program")
When the PD-1000 is in the docking station, you can use a modified LapLink 5 cable. The
modification is on pins 24 and 25. You have to connect them to Pin 23 on both ends. This
is due to our design feature for autodetecting a floppy/parallel port. The Pin out is as
follows:
